I decided to spend this afternoon at the Oregon Zoo in Washington Park.
Due to the gray and chilly weather, the animals weren't exactly anxious to put on a show. At one point, I suggested something about electrodes and wiring the cages to make the beasts jump on demand - but jokes are just jokes... I'm quite the sucker for anything with four feet and fur.
Even a plain old goat will make me grin. Not that the fellow pictured below is plain... he's a pygmie goat. I'm guessing that 'Pygmie' is short for Pygmieupsomethingtoeat... but I could be wrong.
The highlight of my day was hearing an eight year old shout "This isn't worth twenty bucks!!!"
Rock on kiddo!
Oddly enough, I had the most fun snapping photos of the tunnel beneath Washington Park

I could have snapped a million pictures in the Robertson Tunnel, which has a MAX light rail stop directly beneath the zoo. It's really a visually interesting place... I especially enjoy the altitude display panel in the elevator that takes you from the MAX stop to the surface, along with the various timelines along the wall.
601 B.C. - Smelly.
600 B.C. - Less smelly.
Hooray for soap.

I found your page while confirming the right spelling of fig neutons. I clicked on your blurb because I wanted to see what sort of Bolivian Enlightenment fig neutons engendered. Alas, I may never know, since I wasn't there.
Your entire site is very well designed and very original. I enjoyed playing with the flash animation buttons that switched in subtle ways with a mouse roll-over. I especially liked your error message page that wasn't one. Mine has a chimpanzee shaking its head at you -- but it really is an error page.
I was very entertained by all the possibilities of what Jalupna might mean. Only later did I realize it was Jalpuna. (I have a weird form of dyslexia that allows me to "download" entire lines, a dozen or more words at a time. This "disability" allows me to read books at a phenomenal pace with full comprehension -- but oftentimes I will misread a word for years. Nonetheless, it has not hampered me --I've been a book editor. like I said: weird).
You've really got skill in content and composition. (yes I teach photography and design).
In terms of writing, the most satisfying story was where the scrawny nerd picked on by bullies worked out and got buff, then one day got off the bus -- now demon ninja in nerd clothing -- and in two fell punches, beat the snot out of one of the bullies. You should record that entire episode as an inspiration to all nerds to get buff, and as an inferred warning to all bullies. I was neither a nerd or a bully. I was a Southern tomboy, so the boys would not fight me, much to my dismay (and actual good fortune, unbeknownst to me at the time). Still, I always hated bullies and love to see them get their asses kicked.

I think your photos are great! I enjoy your site very much.I enjoy zoos and animals too. I didn't know Oregon had a zoo, or I didn't know about the Oregon Zoo. I went to the Zoo in Portland once. I fell in love with the Hippopotomi. They're pretty good at poopin'! That show was worth twenty bucks!
Getting back to the goats...
Goats are really cool, kinda like dogs, make good pets: outdoor pets. I had a sister who raised goats for 4-H. That was a long time ago.

If you were at the zoo in Portland, then you were at the Oregon Zoo. They're one and the same.
Thanks for the kind words about my photos :)
And yeah, I don't know what it is about goats, but those buggers crack me up! Very cool indeed!

I liked your photos and I have been to the Oregon Zoo. Of course that was eons ago-late 60's-and loved it. Can imagine what it is like now! Wow!
As for goats-other than being an old one myself-we raise goats and they are all of the above and more. They can be a pain in the Arse and be loveable and greedy-mostly greedy-great brush removers and just plain fun. Tain't fun though when you catch one eating the poinsettia and then stay up half the night plying them with Water and PeptoBismol and praying the little buggar doesn't die on ya.!
