Someone To Be

When I was a boy

They told me that someday
I'd grow to be something
because I was someone
but everything I heard
and everything I saw
and everything I was foolish enough to believe
became everything I knew I never wanted to be

So, now, I am not

In becoming not
I have become more
though there is still so much more to who I want to be

Because I can
